Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp
is located in the Central
sector of the Serengeti
in Northern Tanzania
This reasonably high specification permanent lodge is in a relatively quiet location in Central Serengeti. It is something of a compromise between a lodge and camp, with stone and canvas public areas and 16 comfortable guest rooms. So perhaps best suited to slightly less outdoorsy guests.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari, with the area offering very solid wildlife viewing year round, notably with incredible predator sightings, especially Jul/Oct. The migration usually passes through May/Jun and Nov/Dec. It is also possible to do balloon safari from this location.
The main potential downsides are the relatively large size, with 16 guest rooms and the fact that this is not the classic Serengeti tented camp experience. The lodge is also open to vehicles from all safari companies. The area can experience very high visitor traffic in this central area and activities are largely limited to daytime vehicle safari.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
