Mikumi Wildlife Camp
also known as Kikoboga Lodge
, is located in the Mikumi
area in the southern
region of Tanzania
This relatively large establishment is situated adjacent to the main park headquarters in the centre of the reserve, just three hundred metres off the busy TanZam highway.
The lodge consists of a large brick and thatch public areas, which incorporate a modest pool on a raised deck. Despite feeling a good deal larger, there are just twelve rooms here, also in brick and under thatch.
The high point is that the whole lodge looks out over a waterhole which tends to get rather busy during the dry season, with elephant, buffalo and impala being regular visitors.
Rather bizarrely, Mikumi Wildlife Camp is under the same ownership as the much more upmarket Beho Beho Camp
in Selous and The Oyster Bay Hotel
in Dar es Salaam, so although this place is much less attractive in many ways, it should be pretty well run.
