Mivumo River Lodge
is located in the Selous Game Reserve
in Southern Tanzania
It is a medium quality permanent facility in a remote location in Selous, an extremely large and important game reserve with an unusual languid atmosphere. It is a comfortable camp in a riverside position, with a decent swimming pool and twelve guest rooms providing unusually high levels of conventional comforts. It is in an area of relatively low vehicle traffic and is also relatively well priced.
Activities include vehicle safari, motorboat safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing is particularly strong during the Jun/Nov dry season, whilst the reserve remains a beautiful place to visit during the converse Dec/Mar green season.
The main potential downsides at Mivumo River Lodge are that the design we find relatively unattractive and rather light on safari atmosphere, tending to appeal to a broad range of clients. More importantly it is a long way from the main wildlife areas, necessitating long all-day drives. Guests are often asked to share safari vehicles, there can be significant vehicle clustering on sightings in this core area and the safari guiding can be quite average.UpsidesActivitiesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
