Mogotlho Safari Lodge
is located in the Okavango Mababe
area of the Okavango Delta
in northern Botswana
Situated in a private concession area alongside the Khwai River to the northeast of the Okavango Delta, this lodge is a decent mid-priced option, largely aimed at self-drivers and overland safari operators. It has open-sided public areas leading out to a small swimming pool and camp-fire area. Guest accommodation is in several traditional safari tents, accessed by ground-level paths, raised up on low decks and with private bathrooms.
Activities are focused on vehicle safari, walking safari and night vehicle safari in the concession, as well as longer vehicle safari day trips out to the Moremi and Savute areas. The wildlife in the immediate area has been very strong since the Khwai River started flowing again in 2013.
The main potential downsides are the relative simplicity of the lodge by the very high standards of Botswana, the fact that on trips beyond the concession guests are likely to encounter significant vehicle traffic and the presence of human settlement around Mababe and Khwai may detract slightly from the sense of wilderness, especially when compared with the prime concessions out in the Okavango Delta itself.Seasons
