Moholoholo Forest Camp
is located in the Blyde Canyon Lower area of Panorama North in the Northeast region of South Africa

+ small private reserve
+ stunning landscapes
+ small intimate camp
+ individually themed rooms
+ good range of activities
+ walking safari
+ wildlife rehabilitation centre
+ relatively cheap
+ very low visitor traffic

Set in a small private nature reserve at the foot of the Mpumulanga Drakensburg, this very pleasant little camp has elegant public areas and ten comfortable wooden chalets. The owners are proud to declare that they do not have a pool, telephones, televisions or shops.

Activities include short but pleasant guided walking safaris and a tour of the nearby animal rescue and rehabilitation centre, whose clients often include lions, leopards, wild dogs and vultures. There is also ballooning about half an hour north at Hoedspruit.

- fenced reserve
- lacking in game density
- clunky lodge build
- relatively tame experience
- proximity to the main road
- proximity to human habitation

Moholoholo Forest Camp is certainly one of the best options in this area. It is a logical place to break the drive between the scenic route through the Blyde Canyon Upper area to the west and the wildlife lodges of Kruger to the east.

It can even be worth staying for multiple nights if you are on a slower trip and fancy the local activities.
