Montagu
is located in the Overberg area of the Western Cape of South Africa.

The southern part of this area covers the wineries of the Breede River Valley between Robertson and Swellendam. There are some really interesting accommodation options here ...

Excelsior Manor ... is a wonderfully authentic old wine farm, owned by the same family for many generations and with accommodation in the impressive farmhouse. Still very much a working farm, guests are invited to personally hosted tastings.

Fraai Uitzicht ... is another rural lodge, one of the oldest small wineries in the Cape. It is now a nice friendly place, with a nice restaurant and a good base from which to explore the winelands and other activities.

Occupying the top of an impressive pass through the Langeberg mountains, Montagu is an attractive town renowned for dried fruit production and defining the start of the more arid Little Karoo to the north and east. The area is well known for hiking, rock-climbing, horse-riding and quad-biking.

Les Hautes de Montagu ... is the smartest accommodation, situated out of town to the east and with some pleasant hiking trails on the property.

Seven Church Street ... is perhaps the best of the in town options.
