Morani Bivouac

...

... is located on the Lewa Downs area in the Central Region of Kenya.

+ cool camel trek
+ superb personable hosting
+ genuine cultural interaction

Morani Bivouac is the usual first night stop on a three night camel trek from Lewa Downs to Tassia Lodge.

These camel trails are usually led personally by bush legend Charlie Wheeler, along with his superb team of Samburu warriors and supported by a train of camels. Heat and altitude make for tough going, so distances are kept low in order to both keep it enjoyable and to allow time for tracking wildlife and general exploratory diversions.

This leg leads direct from airstrip north-east to the bivouac site to the north of the Lewa Conservancy, usually with good wildlife viewing. Next stop Il Ngwesi Bivouac.

- guests need to be outdoorsy and relatively fit
- potential for low wildlife densities
- low chance of large predator sightings

We would love to sell more of these camel trails, but we get very little demand for it, the majority of people are happy to do camel trekking as a daytime activity whilst staying at one of the lodges in the area, such as the outstanding Tassia Lodge.

But please do let us know if you are interested, we can potentially do much longer treks into the far north of the country as well if you are up for a seriously hardcore adventure, we have guides who are very experienced at that kind of thing.
