Mount Gahinga Lodge
is located in the Kisoro and Mgahinga
area of southwest Uganda
This relatively upmarket lodge is situated around 10km to the southwest of the town, close to the entrance to Mgahinga National Park.
Built as a gorilla tracking lodge, this place has been rather disadvantaged by the frequency with which the single habituated family group disappears up over the peaks into Rwanda and Congo.
The upside is that without the gorillas, the camp enjoys virtually exclusive use of this beautiful mountain area, with great hiking, golden monkey tracking, visits to local caves and Batwa pygmy villages. There is even an interesting canoe trail at Lake Mutanda.
Mount Gahinga Lodge is a really pleasant spot, but for the vast majority of travellers to Uganda it is inevitably rather peripheral.
