Hluhluwe, pronounced "shesh-luwi", is a very substantial 1000 square kilometre national reserve which covers a range of habitats including mountain forest, sub-tropical riverine palm forest and modest open savanna. It contains a full range of wildlife, notably including wild-dogs and southern wide-lipped rhinos.
Situated on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding terrain in the heart of the southern sector of the reserve, Mpila Camp is a large facility with accommodation for almost 200 guests in a range of self-catering chalets, rondavels and tents. Staff are on hand to assist with cooking. The is no restaurant and supplies are not available at the shop, so you need to bring everything with you. Fuel is usually available.
