Msambweni Beach House
is located in the Msambweni
area of the Kenya Coast
Although being situated only around 25km south of the heavily touristed stretch of the coastline up at Diani Beach, Msambweni is another world, a gorgeous stretch of white sand, backed by dirt tracks through pleasant traditional villages. The plots along the back of the beach are mostly empty, with a few containing the holiday homes of up-country Kenyans and just a couple with small and upmarket beach lodges.
Situated at the remote southern end of the beach, this small boutique lodge is centred on a main building which has lounge and dining areas on the ground floor and three guest rooms upstairs, sharing a large and very nice swimming pool out front. Two further villas can function independently or as part of the main lodge, the first with three bedrooms, the second with two bedrooms, each with a lovely private swimming pool. There is also a further tented suite room closer to the main building.
Activities include walking and mountain biking around the villages, remote beaches and mangrove forests of the area, plus spa treatments at the lodge. Day trips further afield are available for excellent diving, snorkelling and swimming with dolphins in the Kisite Marine Reserve to the south, plus golf. kite-surfing, wind-surfing, sky-diving and other such facilities back in the Diani Beach area to the north.
The main potential downsides are the high price of the lodge and the fact that the beaches here are not quite so broad and white as further north. We are also not so keen on the tented Ocean Suite.Prices
