is located in the Shimoni
area of the Kenya Coast
Situated on a pleasantly remote beach around 7km north of the town of Shimoni, this German-owned lodge ... which goes under the fabulous strap line "where God makes holidays" ... is a very simple affair, centred on a large two storey building which combined modest public areas. Guest accommodation is in around 20 rooms, some of which are in the main building, others in detached bandas ranged to the north.
Activities include yoga, kite-surfing, paddle-boarding, snorkelling and diving day trips out to Kisite Island, as well as day trips to explore the impressive mangrove forests of the Funzi area.
The main potential downsides are that the beach here is a little bit impacted by the proximity of the mangrove forests and the lodge itself is shockingly simple and falling frustratingly short of its potential.
We tend to more often recommend staying at lodges in the Msambweni
areas further to the north, from which it is easy enough to visit Shimoni on day trips for the diving and dolphin excursions.
