Namib Naukluft Lodge
is located in the North Namib
in the Southwest
region of Namibia
Set 1.5km west of the C19, some 60km north of the Sossusvlei
gate into the dunes, this architect-designed lodge is modernist from the outside yet disappointingly ordinary inside.
The most notable feature of the public areas is the sociable weaver nest above the main bar, which was moved here rather than having been woven in-situ. The 16 rooms are well equipped but similarly dull, with sliding doors leading out onto a verandah and a broad desert view. At the far end there is a nice pool area.
Namib Naukluft Lodge is connected to and heavily used by a shuttle-bus service which connects budget travellers between Windhoek
There seems little reason for other travellers to choose it as a base, especially given the distance from Sossusvlei.
