is a very large 2500 square kilometre private nature reserve situated just to the south of the better known Sossusvlei
area in Southwest Namibia
This is an area of incredible scenic majesty, running from deep red dunes of the Namib Desert to the west, through broad valleys of honey-coloured grass, to impressive purple granite mountains in the east. Thanks to major conservation efforts the area is now once again inhabited by good populations of wildlife, including oryx, springboks, ostriches and even cheetahs, although the latter are extremely elusive.
Because the reserve is private, the number of vehicles and guests is extremely low, so you really can feel a deep sense of peace in this wonderful place.
The main potential downside is that this is an expensive area to access. The reserve is run on a low-volume high-quality basis and charged accordingly, which unfortunately puts it beyond the budget of many people.UpsidesSeasonsAccommodationTrips
