Namiri Plains Camp
is located in the Central
sector of the Serengeti
in Northern Tanzania
Set in a surprisingly remote and remarkable location out on the long-grass plains of Serengeti Central, Namiri Plains Camp is a high specification mobile tented camp which offers arguably the ultimate Serengeti experience. The camp is centred on a simple tented mess, leading out to a shady dining and campfire area. Guest accommodation is in six lovely tented rooms with indoor bathrooms and impressive outdoor showers.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari out on the surrounding plains, with the presence of the Ngare Nanyuki watercourse ensuring that there is wildlife around all year. Predator sightings around the kopjes are usually sensational, especially lions and cheetahs, whilst the main migration usually passes through Apr/May and Nov/Dec. Crucially there are virtually no other vehicles out here, which is such a contrast to the central Seronera area just 15km to the northeast. Walking safari is also possible, although should be pre-booked to make sure there is a suitably qualified guide in camp.
The main potential downsides at Namiri Plains Camp are the relatively high prices, the fact that activities are largely limited to daytime vehicle safaris and a distinct lack of availability in high season.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
