Ndumo Reserve
is a 100 square kilometre conservation area backed up against the Mozambique border in the Elephant Coast region of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.

One of the country's more beautiful but lesser known reserves, it is essentially a low lying flatland across which the Phongolo River meanders through a network of seasonal pans surrounded by characteristic yellow fever trees.

Although black and white rhino, leopard and various antelope are present, the thick vegetation makes game-viewing difficult. But the birding here is second to none and the lakes are heavily populated by hippos.

Accommodation options here are rather limited, with Ndumo River Lodge probably being the best option.
