is located in the Panorama South
area of the Northeast
region in South Africa
The town was founded in the 1890's as a trading post for farmers and prospectors during the gold-rush years. These days there is very little to show of this history, the place having transformed into a fast-growing modern city, the major transport for Mpumalanga Province and commercial hub for trade with Swaziland and Mozambique.
With the main airport being located some 15km northeast of the town, the majority of safari travellers avoid the city and head directly north to accommodation in the Hazyview
area, or go straight into Kruger
In fact an increasing number of our guests avoid Nelspruit altogether these days by flying into either the much smaller Hoedspruit to the north or direct into airstrips in the wildlife areas. We therefore have very little experience of lodges in the town itself and only have fleeting coverage here.
