Ngala Safari Lodge
is located in the Timbavati Reserve
in the Kruger
area to the Northeast
of South Africa
Set in a nice position alongside a seasonal river in the centre of the reserve, Ngala Safari Lodge is a relatively large lodge comprising separate reception, shop and kiddie area, leading on to a large central lounge and dining building and a reasonable swimming pool area. There is also a small spa. Guest accommodation is in twenty modestly sized but pleasantly presented thatched chalets. An an additional family suite has two bedrooms, a private lounge, swimming pool and comes with its own guide and safari vehicle. The service levels are high and prices are relatively keen.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing in this Timbavati area is reliable year round. The level of guiding here is also very strong.
The main potential downsides are the larger size an relatively bland design of the lodge and the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
In the Timbavati area the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, but that is true of almost all of Kruger.SeasonsPricesTrips
