The Northeast Region

...

... of South Africa is dominated by the massive Kruger National Park, which runs for 350km along the border with Mozambique.

The majority of international visitors simply fly in and out of the region for a short safari. For those wishing to take a broader look at the region tend to take a self-drive vehicle and also explore the neighbouring areas.

Panorama South contains the town of Hazyview, the usual start point for guests arriving into the airport at Nelspruit, with lots of good rural lodges, fine dining and outdoor activities. Higher into the mountains are the spectacular views of Blyde Canyon Upper, plus various waterfalls and historic gold mining settlements.

Panorama North contains the more remote rural lodges in beautiful Letaba, plus the Lowveld areas around Hoedspruit.

Limpopo Northeast lies much further north and contains the archaeological sites of Mapungubwe and the mountain retreats of Soutpansberg.

To take a photo tour of the whole area, start on the Nelspruit page and follow the slideshows all the way northwards.
