Cascade Island Lodge
, previously known as Ntwala Island Lodge
, is located in the Caprivi Eastern Tip
> area in the extreme northeast of Namibia
Caprivi Eastern Tip is the area at the far end of the Caprivi Strip and is largely comprised of broad wetlands, fringed to the east by a network of forested islands and rivers, renowned for its prodigious wildlife, especially during the Jul/Oct dry season.
Set amongst a maze of waterways between the Chobe and Zambezi rivers, Cascade Island Lodge is one of the better lodges in this area, not least because it is a decent distance away from the busy town of Kasane.
The camp is centred on a large open-sided mess building with pleasant lounge and dining areas, leading out to broad decks and a small swimming pool above the Mambova rapids.
Guest accommodation in just four very comfortable suite rooms with impressive bathrooms.
Activities are largely out on the motorboats, with birding and fishing on the nearby Zambezi, plus wildlife viewing slightly further afield on the Chobe, backed up with guided walking and village visits.
The main potential downsides at Cascade Island Lodge are the vey high costs, the chances of encountering severe traffic out on the main river, low wildlife numbers in the immediate area especially during the Nov/May green season and very high temperatures during Oct/Dec.
