The Okavango Gudigwa Concession

... also known as NG12, is a private safari area located to the north-west of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana.

For many years this Gudigwa area was considered to be rather peripheral to the Okavango experience, being a very dry area and fringed by human habitation on the western border. But the extremely high flood of 2009 saw the Selinda Spillway flow for the first time in decades and since then the area has been experiencing much better flooding.

The area lies outside the Veterinary Fence, so the movement of wildlife in and out may be severely impaired. Our personal experience of the area dates back to before the 2009 flood, at the now defunct Gudigwa Camp, where the amount of wildlife was shockingly low, a stark contrast to the prime Okavango areas.
