Okavango Moremi Central
is a part of Moremi National Park in the heart of the Okavango Delta
in northern Botswana
Unlike the private concession areas that surround it, this area is actually part of the national park. But where the easterly Mopane Tongue area of the park is open to self-drive traffic, this sector contains only a handful of high-end camps in exclusive use areas.
The main landmass, Chief's Island, has a reputation for the richest wildlife viewing in Okavango, with very reliable lion and leopard sightings, large herds of elephants and buffaloes and, very unusually, a small population of rhinos.
The area contains a handful of very high quality and premium priced safari camps, although their appeal is slightly reduced by the relatively limited range of safari activities they are permitted to operate due to national park regulations, the details of which vary camp to camp.SeasonsAccommodationTrips
