Okavango Nxabega Concession
, also known as NG27 Matsebe
, is a private safari area located to the south of the Okavango Delta
in northern Botswana
The concession covers around 400 square kilometres and is restricted to just 50 guests in three small camps, around 8 square kilometres per person, which actually makes it one of the smallest and busiest of the private concessions in the Okavango Delta, although still very spacious by normal standards.
Nxabega is one of the wettest parts of the delta, with about a third each of permanent flood, seasonal flood and dry land. Water-based activities such as motorboat safari and mokoro canoe safari therefore tend to be relatively strong throughout the year.
However the lack of dry land and limited road network can severely hamper dry game-viewing, especially during the May/Sep flood season. This is exacerbated by the fact that the concession is shared between three different operators, each of which sticks to its own patch.
It is worth noting that during the converse season, Nov/Jun, when other areas tend to have lesser wildlife viewing, Nxabega can become unusually productive.SeasonsAccommodationTrips
