Okavango Ranns Concession
, also known as NG30
, is a private safari area located to the south of the Okavango Delta
in northern Botswana
This concession covers around 1250 square kilometres and is restricted to around 60 guests in four small camps, around 20 square kilometres per person, which represents a very low density.
Okavango Ranns is one of the wettest parts of the delta, the northern part of the concession comprising about a third each of permanent flood, seasonal flood and dry land. Water-based activities such as motorboat safari and mokoro canoe safari therefore tend to be relatively strong throughout the year.
However the lack of dry land and limited road network can severely hamper dry game-viewing, especially during the Jun/Oct flood season. Although it is worth noting that during the converse season, Nov/May, when other areas tend to have lesser game-viewing, Ranns can become unusually productive.
The area was converted from hunting to photographic safari back in 2010, so the wildlife is starting to replenish and become less skittish.SeasonsAccommodationTrips
