Ol Malo House
is located in the Laikipia North
area of north-central Kenya
Laikipia North is an elevated plateau of arid range-lands which are renowned for their healthy climate. The area is home to a broad range of wildlife, including some of less familiar species which are characteristic of the area, notably including imperial zebras, gerenuks, reticulated giraffes and Somali ostriches. Visitor densities are very low.
Situated amidst very attractive landscapes on a 20 square kilometre private ranch on the west bank of the Ewaso Ngiro River, Ol Malo House is a high quality operation, personally hosted by owners Will and Chyulu Francombe.
The house could be considered to be an annex of the adjacent Ol Malo Lodge
, but it is actually comparable in size and facilities, with extensive public areas, four rooms and two detached cottages capable of sleeping up to 22 guests.
Activities include vehicle safari, horse-back safari, camel safari, walking safari, waterhole hides, mountain biking and some of the best and most natural Samburu cultural interaction we have ever experienced. It is also possible to charter a helicopter or light aircraft in order to explore the remote north, or even trek with camels for as far as you want.
The main potential downsides are the fact that the greater area is largely reclaimed farmland, there is a significant amount of human habitation around, the wildlife densities are relatively low and off-road driving is not permitted.PricesTrips
