Olduvai Camp
is located in the Southcentral Sector of the Serengeti in Northern Tanzania.

It is a high quality tented camp, one of our all time favourites in Africa. It is in an awesome location, being the only permanent lodge on the Serengeti Shortgrass Plains, a real hub location with great access to Ngorongoro Crater and surprisingly low traffic. The camp is excellent year round, but particularly pivotal when the main migration is around camp Dec/Apr. It offers some of the best Maasai interaction in the region.

An unusually broad range of activities is centred on daytime vehicle safari, which can include visits to Olduvai Gorge Museum, Shifting Sands, Olkarien Gorge and other remote spots. Walking with the Maasai guides can include stalking giraffes, fossil hunting and superb sundowners. It's also a great place for kids.

The main potential downsides at Olduvai Camp are that the area can get very dry and windy during the dry season Jul/Oct and wildlife viewing is specialist for much of the year. The camp itself is a little bit too large, offers only simple hosting and food service and the Maasai experience can be variable.
