Porini Ol Pejeta Camp

... also known as Porini Rhino Camp, is located in the Laikipia South area of north-central Kenya.

Ol Pejeta is a 400 square kilometre fenced wildlife conservancy which forms part of a critical buffer zone between the heavily populated arable farmland of central regions and the wilder ranges to the north.

Situated on the much quieter western side of the conservancy, Porini Ol Pejeta is a traditional styled camp with a modest tented mess and several large guest tents.

Activities include vehicle safari inside the conservancy, plus visits to the chimpanzee and rhino sanctuaries. Tracking white rhino on foot may also be possible.

The main potential downsides are that Ol Pejeta is a fully fenced reserve, with human habitation and the town of Nanyuki in close proximity. The reserve is rather tame and over-managed and suffers from high visitor traffic, although it is more quiet on the western side. The chimpanzee sanctuary here is particularly poor. The camp itself is relatively simple.
