Reilly's Rock Lodge
is located in the Ezulwini Valley area of Swaziland
in the southeast of South Africa
Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary is a modest conservation area which covers 45 square kilometres at the heart of the otherwise agricultural Ezulwini Valley, close to the royal capital of Lobamba. The reserve contains no large or dangerous wildlife, only antelopes and lesser species. It is therefore safe to explore on foot.
Reilly's Rock Lodge is situated inside the reserve and is centred on the historic homestead of the Reilly family, amongst the earliest white settlers in this part of the world, who are still in residence hereabouts.
The whole place oozes charm, with authentic furniture throughout and a real sense of old Africa, also being pleasantly short on modern plumbing and other comforts. Guest accommodation is in six rooms in the main house plus a further self-catering cottage.
Activities in the reserve include hiking trails, horse-riding and mountain-biking, all of which can be very pleasant indeed.
Reilly's Rock Lodge is a real favourite, one of the very best and certainly most characterful options in this little country. We often include it in trips for a single night, but it is great to stay longer if you are on a slower paced exploration. However the reserve can get particularly busy during South African school holidays.Prices
