Rocktail Beach Camp
is located in the Elephant Coast
area of Natal Northeast
in South Africa
It is a reasonably stylish little place in a remote setting amongst the sub-tropical dune forests back from a remote beach. The lodge is centred on a large open-plan lounge and dining area, leading out to decks with distant views of the ocean. There is also a swimming pool area tucked away in the forest. Guest accommodation is in a total of seventeen very pleasant tented rooms, seven of which are larger family units.
Activities are centred on beach and forest walks, turtle nesting during Nov/Feb, snorkelling, scuba diving, ocean boat trips, quad-biking, horse-riding, kayaking on the lake and visits to local villages.
The main potential downsides at Rocktail Beach Camp are that it is surprisingly distant from the ocean and the beach can be exposed to both winds and tides. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Dec/Apr. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on the various activities. The lodge can be quite difficult to build into trips, access from Cape Town and Kruger can be arduous and expensive.SeasonsPrices
