Roho Ya Selous
is located in the Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania.

Selous is the only major wildlife reserve in East Africa to be located down on the humid coastal plateau, which creates an unusually languid and tropical atmosphere. It is an area of rich wildlife and is particularly renowned for motorboat safari.

Set in a prime central position alongside the river, Roho Ya Selous ("Heart of the Selous") is an upmarket camp in the heart of the prime wildlife areas.

The camp is centred on a large tented mess, with lovely lounge and dining areas leading out to a swimming pool.

Guest accommodation is in seven large and beautiful tented suites. The beds are fitted with special Evening Breeze environmentally sensitive air-con units, which is a real positive in this particular area. There is also a larger Family Suite which can accommodate parents and up to three children.

Activities include vehicle safari, motorboat safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing is particularly strong during the Jun/Nov dry season, whilst the reserve remains a beautiful place to visit during the converse Dec/Mar green season. Bivouac camping in remote locations around the reserve is also sometimes available.

The main potential downsides at Roho Ya Selous are the high prices, the outdoorsy nature of the facilities, the open design of the rooms, the potential for traffic issues in core areas in high season, the ongoing problems with elephant poaching in the area and the reserve can get very hot and humid throughout the year.
