Royal Mara Safari Lodge
is located in the Mara North
sector of the Maasai Mara
in Southwest Kenya
Situated on a beautiful bend in the Mara River, this camp is owned by a wealthy Greek American family who decided to build it because they were tired of staying in places that were not to their liking.
From the reception building at the vehicle turnaround, a path leads behind the eight substantial guest rooms to a lounge and restaurant building, with a campfire area on the bend in the river. The construction is quite heavy, with an unusual design theme running throughout.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari, walking safari, cultural interaction, bush meals and night vehicle safari in the conservancy, plus full day safaris south into the reserve itself.
Royal Mara Lodge is a reasonable and reliable facility. The owners may not have any great safari pedigree, but they are pleasant and well-intentioned people.
