Ruaha River Lodge
is located in the Ruaha
area in the southern
region of Tanzania
It is a mid-range permanent option in a very central position in Ruaha, one of the finest reserves in Africa. This is the original facility in the park, in a commanding hilltop setting. The lodge is relatively easy to access by air and is relatively low cost.
Activities include vehicle safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing is particularly strong during the Jun/Nov dry season, whilst the reserve remains a beautiful place to visit during the converse Dec/Mar green season.
The main potential downsides at Ruaha River Lodge are that this is a busy central location and the place itself is an old-fashioned and heavily built facility, large in size with around 30 guest rooms. The lodge is often accessed by road and can get quite a lot of self-drive traffic. Fly-in guests are often asked to share safari vehicles. The reserve can get very hot during the dry season and tsetse flies can be a nuisance in some areas.UpsidesActivitiesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
