Rufiji River Camp
is located in the Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania.

It is a medium quality permanent lodge in a riverside position close to the main gate into the Selous, an extremely large and important game reserve with an unusual languid atmosphere. It is a substantial lodge with a very large main building, a large swimming pool and 14 large guest tents. It is relatively low cost compared with the premium lodges deep inside the reserve.

Activities include vehicle safari, motorboat safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing is particularly strong during the Jun/Nov dry season, whilst the reserve remains a beautiful place to visit during the converse Dec/Mar green season.

The main potential downsides at Rufiji River Camp are that it is a rather old-fashioned and heavily built facility in a relatively busy location close to the busy eastern gate. It also tends to attract a budget conscious audience. Guests are often asked to share safari vehicles, there can be significant vehicle clustering on sightings in this core area and the safari guiding can be quite average.
