Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge
is located in Sabi Sand South
in the Kruger Private Reserves
area in the Northeast
of South Africa
Situated in the far southwest of the area, Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is a modernist creation which is controversially promoted as being the 'most environmentally sensitive lodge in Africa', this operator's attempt at a high-end facility. The lodge interiors are rather attractive, with funky public areas include an extensive spa. Guest accommodation is in thirteen suites which are beautifully presented and include small plunge pools.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari, with wildlife viewing in this Sabi Sand South area being very reliable year round. The lodge has traversing rights over around 35 square kilometres.
The main potential downsides are the high prices, the fact the from the outside parts of the lodge are more reminiscent of an underground car-park and the use of golf-carts to provide access to the rooms. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
In Sabi Sand South the presence of overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, but that is true of almost all of Kruger. The safari area also lacks frontage onto the nearby Sabi River. SeasonsPrices
