... is located in the Panorama South area of the Northeast region in South Africa.

This modest town has its origins in the gold rush era of the late nineteenth century, although today there is little remaining to show for it other than the enormous man-made forests that were first created to support the mining industry. Forestry provides the town itself with a rather industrial feel, although the main street and surrounding landscapes are pleasant enough.

The main reason to stay in the area is to break the drive between Johannesburg and Kruger.

There is a surprisingly broad range of accommodation, from guest houses to holiday resorts ...

Misty Mountain Lodge ... is a reasonably pleasant if slightly old fashioned establishment in a nice rural position to the southwest of town.

Villa Ticino ... is a simple at-home guesthouse in a decent suburban position.

For something more upmarket you probably need to look further east to the Hazyview area.
