is located in the Laikipia North
area of north-central Kenya
Laikipia North is an elevated plateau of arid range-lands which are renowned for their healthy climate. The area is home to a broad range of wildlife, including some of less familiar species which are characteristic of the area, notably including imperial zebras, gerenuks, reticulated giraffes and Somali ostriches. Visitor densities are very low.
Situated in a steep valley on the west bank of the Ewaso Ngiro river, Sabuk is a lovely personable lodge with a pleasantly uncommercial and homespun atmosphere. It has elegant public areas and nine beautiful guest rooms perched above some small rapids.
Activities include vehicle safari, night vehicle safari, walking safari, hiking, camel safari and river swimming. The focus is very much on a more gentle appreciation of this beautiful area rather than hardcore wildlife viewing and particularly on multiple day camel trails with bivouac camping.
The main potential downsides are the fact that there is a significant amount of human habitation around, the wildlife densities are relatively low and off-road driving is not permitted.PricesTrips
