area of the Eastern Cape
region of South Africa

+ important and pioneering conservation project
+ high quality lodge

+ walking safari
+ good swimming pool
+ low visitor traffic
Situated around 35km east of Graaff-Reinet, this scenic 270 square kilometre nature reserve is one of a number of excellent re-wildlification projects in the area.
Activities are centred on vehicle and walking safari. The reserve contains wide-lipped rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, caracals and servals, as well as a wide range of antelopes and lesser species, but no lions. A limited number of elephants were reintroduced in late 2017.
This modern colonial style house is available for private rental for groups of up to eight guests. There are four suites and extensive public areas, all beautifully presented and with a 25m lane pool outside.
Samara Manor House is undoubtedly one of the finest non-malarial safari options and guest reviews
are reliable. A really good conservation project worthy of support.
- fenced reserve
- long bumpy arrival road
- not easy to fit into trips
We look forward to a time when the reserves in this area will open up their fences to create a single larger area for wildlife.Prices
