Sango Safari Camp
is located in the Okavango Khwai River
area of the Okavango Delta
in northern Botswana
This simple camp is situated very close to the village of Khwai and is partly owned and operated by the local community, which can bring a particular warmth and authenticity to the hosting.
It comprises a simple open-sided mess tent and a small swimming pool on a separate deck to one side. Guest accommodation is in seven comfortable tents, raised up on low decks and accessed by ground level pathways. The whole camp looks out on the Khwai River channel and can therefore be quite active with wildlife.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari, mokoro canoe safari, cultural interaction and night vehicle safari.
The main potential downside are the simplicity of the build and the relatively high prices. The proximity of the village and the fact that you are likely to encounter significant vehicle traffic whilst out on safari do significantly reduces the sense of wilderness. There is also likely to be much weaker wildlife viewing during the Nov/Apr green season and the potential for flood failure some years.
