is located close to the town of Vilanculos in the Bazaruto
area in the Southern
region of Mozambique
Set back from a relatively quiet mainland beach some 5km north of the town, this upmarket and rather stylish lodge certainly does have a rather Greek feel to it, as the name would suggest.
The main building is centred around a courtyard swimming pool and has gorgeous lounge and dining areas, all beautifully presented and leading out onto terraces with a smaller infinity pool and views out over the ocean.
Guest accommodation is in five lovely suites in the main building, one of which can accommodate two further children. The Chapel is a separate building, a short walk to the north and is designed for honeymoon couples, with just one bedroom, but a large lounge and dining area and terraces including a private plunge pool. Finally there is the Villa da Praia, a three bedroom villa which can function completely separate from the main lodge.
Activities include motorboat safaris out to the islands, diving, snorkelling, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoe safaris on inland lakes, horse-riding, camel riding, exploring the town and other outlying areas.
Access is usually via the nearby airport at Vilanculos, which is directly connected by air with the Kruger area of South Africa.
Santorini Mozambique is a really lovely option, but we can't help feeling that, at these elevated prices, we would rather stay at one of the top lodges out on the islands.
