Savuti Public Campsite

... is located in the Savuti area of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana.

This camp-ground provides access to the Savuti Marshes, potentially a very productive wildlife area during the Jun/Oct dry season.

It is a very substantial affair, ranged around an incredible central ablutions facility known as "the bunker" ... an amazing structure designed to repel the local elephants, who will do anything to get to a water source in this arid area. When the apocalypse comes, the world may be repopulated by a small group of people who happened to be in the toilets here at the time the bomb went off.

It also represents the lowest cost way for self-drivers and budget safaris to access this area.

The main downside is that you are likely to encounter considerable vehicle traffic whilst out on safari, this is an unavoidably busy area. Much of this traffic emanates from this camp-ground.

Activities in the area are limited to vehicle safari and visits to the San Bushmen rock-art sites at Gubatsa Hills.

We do not presently offer any self-drive or guided safaris through this busy area.

For fly-in safaris into this Savuti area you might like to take a look at the nearby Camp Savuti or the much higher quality Savute under Canvas.
