is an absolutely superb and very beautiful safari area situated in the extreme north of the Serengeti National Park
in Northern Tanzania
This relatively remote area of the Serengeti is the prime location for viewing the great migration river crossings during the Jul/Oct dry season and also offers strong resident wildlife viewing year round. The area is much less busy and higher quality than the adjoining Maasai Mara and contains a remarkable selection of high quality camps. As well as daytime vehicle safari, some camps offer walking safari and this is also a great location for balloon safari.
The main potential downsides of the Serengeti Mara area are that it is expensive to access, there can be significant vehicle clustering on river crossings during the Jul/Oct dry season and at the airstrip. Availability can also be a major issue in high season.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsAccommodationTrips
