is a substantial section of the southern plains of the Serengeti
in Northern Tanzania
This is one of the major migration action areas during the Dec/Apr calving season, arguably the greatest wildlife show on earth. The area contains a remarkable range of superb safari camps, the majority of which are only set out during this key migration season. Off-road driving and walking is permitted in most areas. A fabulous experience when done properly. During the converse Apr/Nov period this is a fabulously quiet backwater where you can go for days without seeing another soul.
The main potential downsides are that the peak migration season Dec/Mar is usually accompanied with a significant amount of rain and that there can be significant clusters of vehicle traffic in the core Ndutu area. During the Jun/Oct dry season there can be a relative scarcity of wildlife in the area.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsAccommodationTrips
