Serondella Game Lodge

... is located in the Thornybush Reserve in the Kruger Private Reserves area in the Northeast of South Africa.

Situated in the more busy northern part of the reserve, Serondella Game Lodge has modest public areas leading out to a small swimming pool on the banks of a sand river. Guest accommodation is in five chalets, three suites and one family unit. The hosting is warm and friendly and the price are relatively keen.

Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari. Wildlife is reliable year round. There are extensive spa facilities at the nearby Thornybush Game Lodge.

The main potential downsides are that the lodge is rather old-fashioned in design and there is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.

Thornybush is quite small fully fenced reserve which contains a relatively high density of camps and vehicles. We find that the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, although that is true of almost all of Kruger.
