formerly known as Selous Safari Camp
, is located in the Selous Game Reserve
in Southern Tanzania
It is a very high quality permanent lodge in a prime lakeside position in Selous, an extremely large and important game reserve with an unusual languid atmosphere. It is a very elegant and comfortable camp, with a decent swimming pool, 13 luxurious guest tents and excellent local staff.
Activities include vehicle safari, motorboat safari, walking safari and bush meals. Wildlife viewing is particularly strong during the Jun/Nov dry season, whilst the reserve remains a beautiful place to visit during the converse Dec/Mar green season.
The main potential downsides at Siwandu Camp are that it is relatively expensive. It also has a tendency to attract both an unusual selection of expat management and an uncomfortable mix of guests. Guests are often asked to share safari vehicles, there can be significant vehicle clustering on sightings in this core area and the safari guiding can be quite average.UpsidesActivitiesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
