Somerset West

...

... is located on the main N2 route east along the coast from Cape Town in the Cape area of the Western Cape region in South Africa.

This modest town is essentially a quite upmarket location, renowned for its fine schools and surrounded by some decent vineyards.

The town contains a number of decent guest-houses lie in the more upmarket residential areas. To the northeast of the town lie a handful of lodges which claim to be in Stellenbosch, but are too far south to really considered to be in the Cape Winelands.

The proximity of the busy urban areas along the False Bay coastline just to the south definitely detracts from the allure of the area from a visitor perspective.

To the east the smaller town of Grabouw contains one decent lodge, but again the reasons for a leisure traveller to linger remain rather nebulous.

We much more often include the more popular areas of Cape Town, The Southern Suburbs and The Cape Winelands in trips.
