Sunshine Coast West

... is the 150km section of coastline which runs west from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape area of South Africa.

As well as the beautiful beaches of the coast itself, the hinterland in this area contains one of the finest non-malarial safari parks in the country.

Addo National Park ... is now the third largest wildlife reserve in the country, a relatively impressive area, although the core wildlife area is relatively small and the greater area is not a pristine wilderness. Most importantly it represents one of the lowest cost safari options on the continent.

Jeffreys Bay ... is the surfing capital of the South Africa, a relatively busy but pleasant town, but probably only worth including in your trip if you are specifically looking to catch some waves.

St Francis Bay ... is a much quieter and prettier seafront settlement a little further to the southwest, which can work well as a place to rest up at the end of the long drive from Cape Town, when connecting out of the airport at Port Elizabeth.

Port Elizabeth ... itself is a large industrial port with some conventional beach holiday suburbs, not a place we tend to include in trips very often.
