Tarangire Treetops Lodge

... is located in the Tarangire area of Northern Tanzania.

Tarangire Treetops Lodge is a relatively upmarket lodge situated on a large private concession to the east of the main reserve. It has comfortable public areas with a swimming pool and guest rooms which take the form of stilt houses around some beautiful baobab trees. Activities include daytime vehicle safari into the main park, plus walking safari and night vehicle safari in the vicinity of the lodge. Wildlife viewing is usually at its best during the dry season, Jun/Dec, particularly strong for elephants.

The main potential downsides at Tarangire Treetops Lodge are related to the location, which is less than ideal, being a very long way from the core game-viewing areas within the main park and accessed via some long and relatively uninteresting dirt roads. The lodge itself is relatively pricey and with 20 rooms it is a little overlarge for a property of this level. The camp is also open to vehicles from other safari companies, which can reduce the sense of intimacy. Central parts of the reserve can get quite busy during high seasons, where off-road driving is also not permitted. Tsetse flies can be a nuisance in some areas, particularly along the road out to the lodge.
