Tembo House Hotel
is located in Stonetown
on the west coast of Zanzibar Island
off the Indian Ocean Coast
It is a large and relatively characterful place in a prime waterfront position in historic Stonetown and largely contained within a restored historic building. Extensive reception areas lead through to a large courtyard swimming pool and a pleasant beach-front restaurant. Upstairs there is a remarkable stained-glass salon and a total of 38 rooms, some of which have impressive ocean views. There's lots to do here in town, including historic walks, shopping, restaurants, bars and various day trips.
The main potential downsides at Tembo House Hotel are that this is a chaotic and hectic town, with the potential for crime and it is easy to get lost. The hotel is rather large and commercial, not architecturally authentic, has the potential for maintenance issues, does not serve alcohol and accepts non-residents at pool and in the restaurant. Furthermore the beach is most definitely not recommended for swimming.UpsidesActivitiesWalksDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
