Tete Province
is the large part of Mozambique that prodrudes up the western side of Malawi and follows the great Zambezi Valley upstream, dividing Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The fact that this is part of Mozambique at all is something of an historic anomaly. It seems all the more bizarre when viewed on the ground, since it is largely comprised of dry flatlands which are much more reminiscent of the lands the countries which surround it rather than the rest of Mozambique.

The vast majority of visitors simply transit through when travelling the main road between Blantyre and Harare. From the road there is little of interest to be seen along the whole traverse.

The same can be said of the rather uninspiring provincial capital, Tete.
