Horse-back safari
is an activity which involves riding out in a wildlife rich area specifically to view and interact with wildlife.

The extraordinary thing about being on a horse in Africa is that the wildlife simply ignores you. An antelope which would usually have turned tail at two hundred paces had you approached on foot, will still be standing there nonchalantly grazing as you ride to within twenty paces. It really is a remarkable phenomenon.

Combine that with the lack of engine noise or any other artificial contrivance and you can see why so many people consider horse-back safari to be a far superior experience than conventional vehicle-based safari.

For more conventional equestrian facilities, without the wildlife element, please refer to the page on horse-riding.
