A mountain bike safari
is a rather unusual, even marginal activity in which guests are guided through the bush on bikes, primarily for exercise, but also with the express intention of finding and viewing animals.
It is actually a very unusual experience, quite unnerving at first, but really very enjoyable. The wildlife tends to be much more skittish than when you approach in vehicles or on horseback, so close encounters are relatively unlikely, but it really can be a pleasure to be out in the bush without engine noise and getting a little bit or exercise.
This rather unusual activity is offered at Tafika Camp
in the South Luangwa area of Zambia, primarily because the owned and host John Coppinger likes to get out and get a little exercise himself.
Another area which offers this activity is Mashatu Main Camp
in the Tuli area of southeast Botswana.
